Maintenance of Aggarps windmill

"We do it because it's social"

Every Tuesday at 10 am, Tord and his friends come to voulentarely do maintenance work on the old windmill. Built in 1896 with a Netherland design, still to this day, it's standing strong due to an extensive renovation done in 1971 by Röda Korset and the consistent pressens of voulentare workers like Tord.

At the age of 73, Tord effortlessly navigates the narrow ladders across the windmill's six floors, with his hands full of buckets of tar and painting equipment. "Even if we sometimes spend more time talking than working, just the pressens of being here keeps the bugs and spider webs away". Tord continues to explain to me how the wood beams will rot if it's not being cherished and looked after.

When the clock hits 12:00, everyone drops what's in their hands and goes to the little farmhouse next to the windmill for a coffee. "This is why we do it... we get to meet each other and it becomes a social thing".
